SM6 is an active single-way near-field monitoring system with a 6" (17cm) full-range driver featuring an aluminum-magnesium alloy diaphragm.
For the full-range series, we selected drivers from true esoteric single-way sound enthusiasts with unique developments in construction and technological materials. Carefully selected elasticity of the rubber surround and silicone spider, damping galvanic coating of the diaphragm, as well as high rigidity combined with the lightness of the aluminum-magnesium diaphragm allow for reproduction of a wide sound spectrum from low bass to the highest high-frequency range by a single point source without visible resonances, with minimal distortion levels and without the phase transitions characteristic of filters in multi-way systems.
The rigid, heavy enclosure made of 16mm MDF reliably dampens vibrations transmitted from the driver frame. The internal volume of the resonator and the port area are precisely measured in the necessary and sufficient amount to eliminate turbulent port noise even when operating at the lower range limit, while not constraining the driver with excessive compression.
The unique micro-concrete finish combined with the impeccable aesthetic appearance of the light aluminum diaphragm and satin-finished aluminum amplifier panel allows SM6 to fit into modern interiors of both residential spaces and studios, as well as bold design solutions for commercial establishments.
SM6 uses a modern modular amplifier with a built-in powerful DSP processor capable of operating at a 96kHz sampling rate. The highlight of the DSP processing is phase-linear FIR filters up to 1024 taps long, with which we achieved frequency response irregularity of +-1.5dB in the 42Hz-21kHz range on the radiation axis and a full operating range of 38Hz-23kHz with phase response linearity of +-19 degrees from 100Hz.
Precision linearity of output and phase allows working with any material without worrying about potential coloration of the mix or "blind spots" in the working range.
